Waterloo East Theatre’s having a TRW 2010-11!

LONDON’S WATERLOO EAST THEATRE’S STRIKING 12 and PINKALICIOUS open concurrent runs next week, both British premieres!

Waterloo LogoWith the opening of two TRW titles next week, London’s Waterloo East Theatre presents the British premieres of STRIKING 12 and PINKALICIOUS. STRIKING 12, the musical re-telling of Hans Christian Andersen’s “Little Match Girl,” is directed by Simon Greiff and features a cast including Simon Bailey, John Banister, Rebecca Bainbridge, Natasha Barnes and Roger Woods. Originally a vehicle for power trio GrooveLily, the musical has been re-imagined for a full cast, retaining the power and soaring beauty of the score.

Waterloo East contacted TRW for permission to change a few words and phrases in the script to Anglicize the vernacular for Brits. TRW’s Director of Licensing Jim Hoare was eager to help. He contacted the authors who quickly and happily approved the changes, paving the way for the London opening. In fact, Tony Award winning bookwriter/lyricist Rachel Sheinkin and composer/bookwriter/lyricists Brendan Milburn and Valerie Vigoda personally approved the substitutions and gave the production their full support. Check out the story on Groovelily’s website:  STRIKING 12′s British Premiere

Having opened earlier this year, TRW is thrilled that this new company has chosen two of our titles for Striking 12British premieres. Waterloo’s Artistic Director Gerald Armin said, “STRIKING 12 is the perfect antidote to too much sickly-sweet Christmas cheer and PINKALICIOUS is the exact opposite – a celebration of all things sticky and sweet – one for the under tens who love pink!”

Pinkalicious_logo sm for webPINKALICIOUS is based on the popular book by Victoria Kann and Elizabeth Kann. Pinkalicious can’t stop eating pink cupcakes, despite warnings from her parents. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor’s office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe – a dream come true for this pink loving enthusiast. But when her hue goes too far, only Pinkalicious can figure out a way to get out of this pink predicament.

Congratulations to the Waterloo East Theatre of London on their first season…Here’s to many more!
