Ben spent his life as a boring old mechanical engineer, having never stepped foot in a theatre until his granddaughter Maggie’s sophomore year in high school. Her appearance as Gladys Antrobus in THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH changed his life. Maggie’s, too. She fell in love with theatre and plans to pursue it as a career when she finishes college in the spring of 2025; Ben fell in love with theatre as well, and has been making up for lost time by attending every play and musical he can, wherever he is, and whether or not Maggie is in it. Now a retired engineer, and widower, Ben has fallen into a second career, as a fledgling playwright. With two plays down, and a new adaptation of Charles Dickens’ GREAT EXPECTATIONS on the way, he’s keeping his fingers crossed that things work out.
