David H. Bell

DAVID H. BELL has been the Artistic Director of Ford’s Theatre in Washington D.C., and the Associate Artistic Director of the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia. David has directed productions on Broadway, Off- Broadway, Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, on the West End in London, Internationally and Nationally. He has been a director, choreographer, or author of over 30 World premiere musicals, working with such notable creators as Cy Coleman, Russell Baker, Jimmy Buffett, Herman Wouk, George Stiles, Jule Styne, Marta Kauffman, David Crane, Roderick Cook, and Craig Carnelia. He has received 31 Joseph Jefferson Award nominations (Chicago; winning 10), a Laurence Olivier nomination (London), a Helen Hayes Award (D.C.), 5 Carbonall nominations (Florida), a Drama-logue Award (L.A.), a Bay Area Award, two National Endowment Awards, 6 AJC Awards (Atlanta), and 5 Atlanta Circle of Dramatic critics Award nominations (winning 1). His HOT MIKADO written with Rob Bowman, is performed all over the World. David is currently a Professor of musical theatre at Northwestern University.
