Renowned NJ Playhouse Presents the Musical Comedy Whodunit, Directed by Mark S. Hoebee
The celebrated Papermill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey has a stellar reputation for delivering defining productions of new and classic musicals. Their upcoming production of CURTAINS, directed by Artistic Director Mark S. Hoebee, looks to be another brilliant re-imagining of a more recent Broadway show. Hoebee recently directed the show for Houston’s Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) and is bringing some of the same cast in for his Papermill production.
With choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter, the creative team also includes Tom Helm (music director), Randy Hansen (sound designer), Charlie Morrison (lighting designer), Robert Kovach (scenic designer) and Tracy Christensen (costume designer). The cast features the same dynamic-duo from the TUTS production, “Guiding Light” stars Robert Newman (Lt. Frank Cioffi) and Kim Zimmer (Carmen Bernstein.) The talented ensemble includes Ed Dixon (Christopher Belling), Amanda Rose (Niki Harris), Kevin Kern (Aaron Fox), Helen Anker (Georgia Hendricks), David Elder (Bobby Pepper), Aaron Galligan-Stierle (Daryl Grady), Dick Decareau (Oscar Shapiro), Rye Mullis (Johnny Harmon) and Anne Horak (Bambi Bernstein). Also featured are Monique Alhaddad, Ashley Arcement, Colin Bradbury, Joshua James Campbell, Lauren DeCierdo, Mathew DeGuzman, Taurean Everett, Becca Kloha, Mary Ann Lamb, Ian Liberto, Patrick O’Neill, Happy McPartlin, Molly Tynes, Kyle Vaughn and Dana Winkle.
The hilarious backstage whodunit—where everyone in the cast and crew is a suspect—was nominated for eight Tony© Awards, and features a book by Rupert Holmes, score by John Kander and Fred Ebb, and is based on a concept by Peter Stone. CURTAINS is set in 1959, at Boston’s Colonial Theatre, host to the opening night performance of a new musical. When the leading lady mysteriously dies on stage—the entire cast & crew are suspects. Enter a local detective, who just happens to be a musical theatre fan!
